Pemberton bashes the Panthers

UNDER 18 LEAGUE CUP FINAL: Chippenham Wanderers cruised to victory in the Under 18s final, beating North Swindon Panthers 3-0 thanks to two super first-half strikes from Ben Pemberton.

North Swindon nearly took the lead with two minutes on the clock when a blocked shot fell to Alex Rigley five yards out but a reflex save from Barney Shaw kept his effort out.

From then on though, North Swindon hardly got a look as their opponents dominated.

Pemberton headed just over from a Mark Dolman corner nine minutes in before Dolman struck himself seven minutes later.

In the 22nd minute, a long ball over the top was flicked on by Josh Shaw to Pemberton at the far post who drilled powerfully into the top corner.

An attempted lob from Craig Taylor nearly provided the equaliser but his effort only found the roof of the net.

Pemberton provided his second goal nine minutes before the break, smashing home from 12 yards after he intercepted an attempted clearance.

The third arrived when Warren Allison's corner was bundled in by Dolman.

Man of the match: Liam Coupland (Chippenham Wanderers)
