SSMFL Rep side 3 West Yorkshire League 2

The Final beckons after SSMFL Div Two rep side defeated a strong West Yorkshire League 3-2 in the Semi Final at Hertford Town. Daniel Parsons gave the SSMFL an early lead with a superb turn and volley but Yorkshire levelled the score 12 minutes after Danny Cunningham took advantage of an uncharacteristic defensive lapse. It as level pegging at half time but Marcus Hussey raised the SSMFL supporters hopes with a powerful header after 69 minutes.

Those hopes rose even higher 5 minutes later after a Tommy Cooke drive gave the home side a two goal cushion, but slack marking from a throw just 4 minutes later allowed the visitors back in the game and resulted in a very nervous last 16 minutes as they pressed hard for the equalizer. The defence however held firm to allow the celebrations to begin. Once again, the team were impeccably behaved, despite some fairly fierce tackling, and deserve all the plaudits for reaching the first ever Final for any SSMFL rep side.

The other semi final, between the Southern Amateur League and the Teeside League, takes place this Saturday at Uxbridge FC
